MAN Truck & Bus Germany has received a 490-vehicle order from the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), marking the first large-scale federal-level procurement of MAN TGE vans for civil protection and disaster response.<\/p>\n

The order covers 350 command vehicles and 140 crew transport vehicles, with deliveries planned across two phases through to 2029.<\/p>\n

The two vehicle types are designed to meet different operational requirements. The crew transport vehicles primarily serve to transport personnel and equipment. At the same time, they can also be used on site as mobile work and coordination spaces.<\/p>\n

The command vehicles are equipped as mobile command centres and enable communication, situation assessment, and coordination directly at the deployment site.<\/p>\n

The crew transport vehicles were commissioned in January 2025, with prototypes delivered in December 2025 and series production due to begin in August 2026.<\/p>\n

The command vehicle order followed in March 2026, with prototypes planned from December 2026 and series deliveries from July 2027.<\/p>\n

In implementing the project, MAN Truck & Bus Germany is working with body manufacturer Wietmarscher Ambulanz-und Sonderfahrzeug GmbH (WAS), which is responsible as the general contractor for integrating the special superstructures.<\/p>\n

The collaboration includes vehicle-specific customisation to meet THW requirements as well as preparation for use in disaster response.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
