{"id":75081,"date":"2025-07-17T09:27:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-17T08:27:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/?p=75081"},"modified":"2025-07-18T14:41:41","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T13:41:41","slug":"stellantis-discontinues-hydrogen-fuel-cell-technology-development-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/index.php\/stellantis-discontinues-hydrogen-fuel-cell-technology-development-program\/75081","title":{"rendered":"Stellantis pulls plug on hydrogen van development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Stellantis is discontinuing its hydrogen fuel cell technology development program, citing &#8220;limited availability of hydrogen refueling infrastructure, high capital requirements, and the need for stronger consumer purchasing incentives&#8221;, as the reasons for its decision.<\/p>\n<p>Stellantis said it does not anticipate the adoption of hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles before the end of the decade.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, Stellantis will no longer launch its new range of hydrogen-powered Pro One vehicles this year, serial production of which was scheduled to start this summer in Hordain, France (medium-sized vans) and Gliwice, Poland (large vans).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a context where the company is mobilising to respond to demanding CO2 regulations in Europe, Stellantis has decided to discontinue its hydrogen fuel cell technology development program,\u201d explains Jean-Philippe Imparato, chief operating officer for Enlarged Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe hydrogen market remains a niche segment, with no prospects of mid-term economic sustainability.
