The Geneva International Motor Show has been postponed for the third year running, after event organisers decided to postpone next year’s show until 2023.<\/p>\n

Europe’s biggest motor show was set to return in February 2022, having not been held since 2019 due to the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Comit\u00e9 permanent du Salon international de l’automobile, organisers of the Geneva Motor Show, said next year’s edition will not go ahead due to “industry-wide issues relating to the Covid-19 pandemic”.<\/p>\n

“While February 2022 will be cancelled, the steps already taken to evolve the platform will continue to be implemented, allowing for a more impactful show in 2023,” a Geneva International Motor Show statement said.<\/p>\n

It added that the decision to cancel the 2022 edition was made with “the best interests of both car manufacturers and automotive fans in mind”.<\/p>\n

“The direct and indirect issues relating to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic left the organisers with no alternative,” it said.<\/p>\n

Organiser cited travel restrictions for “international exhibitors, visitors, and journalists” as reasons for next year’s cancellation.<\/p>\n

It also said the semiconductor shortage has “presented car manufacturers with new priorities that they need to solve first”.<\/p>\n

“These issues led to several recent cancellations, which resulted in the final confirmation of the show\u2019s postponement,” the statement said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
