Mick Schumacher, son of Formula 1 legend Michael, will join up with the Ferrari Driver Academy for the 2019 season.<\/p>\n

Mick Schumacher<\/p><\/div>\n

The 19-year-old German is taking the step up to Formula 2 with the help of the Scuderia’s young driver programme having been crowned FIA Formula 3 champion last year.<\/p>\n

Michael Schumacher, now 50, was forced to retire due to a skiing accident in 2013 and won five of his seven world titles with Ferrari.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that Ferrari has entered a partnership with me and my next future in motorsport will be in red, being part of the Ferrari Driver Academy and also of the Scuderia Ferrari Family,\u201d said\u00a0Mick.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is another step forward in the right direction, and I can only profit from the immense amount of expertise bundled there. Be sure I will make everything to extract whatever helps me achieve my dream, racing in Formula\u00a01.<\/p>\n
