Hyundai Cars Ireland has set itself a target of achieving a market share of 6.5 per cent this year. It looks like it will hit 6.9 per cent. In a new car market that is down 12 per cent, Hyundai is up by 30 per cent. In the Top 10 of Irish car sales, there is great brand growth performances by the likes of BMW, Audi, and Skoda but none as fast growing as Hyundai.<\/p>\n

The main reasons include a higher brand and individual model recognition following increased marketing, extensive sales training for the dealer network, expansion in fleet sales and contract hire.<\/p>\n

However, the core reason for such high growth is the recruitment of several new dealers, many with a track record of high car sales. New dealership conquests include three in Dublin, two in Cork, one each in Galway, Kerry, and Louth. And the Autotrade.ie has learned that they will be joined by O’Brien’s, Mullingar from the end of this month.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Hyundai Cars Ireland has also confirmed that it would expect to announce one or two more new dealers before the end of this year. The company hopes to add another two or three\u00a0by next June (2013),\u00a0with all dealer open points filled by the end of October 2013.
\nAll of this is part of the company’s ambitious expansion plans. For next year, Hyundai is looking at a market share target increase of 20 per cent, or between 7 and 8 per cent of the Irish new car market.<\/p>\n

In addition to new dealers, for 2013 it will have new products such as the new Sante Fe just today and other new arrivals in the past year such as the all-new i40, the Veloster, i20 Diesel, and ix35 Commercial. Hyundai is also about to further increase its marketing and grow fleet sales in 2013.<\/p>\n

However, possibly among the smartest moves by Hyundai Cars Ireland for 2013 are specific model initiatives to make existing models more attractive to potential customers. An initiative like introducing a new entry level i10 at \u20ac10,995, where the existing base model is the Deluxe at \u20ac12,745 will atract interest. Despite the lower specification, a \u20ac1,750 saving will attract more buyers.<\/p>\n

The i20 ‘Classic’ will sell at \u20ac14,495 for the petrol version and \u20ac15,995 for the i20 Classic Diesel. Another move comes with the addition of a higher spec second level version of the i35 2WD for \u20ac1,000 more. And the i30 I.6 litre diesel now has 98 g\/km CO2.<\/p>\n

That will work to make it very price competitive under the proposed new VRT four level Band A system, as revealed exclusively by AutoTrade.ie<\/p>\n

Hyundai Cars Ireland also announced that its 3 year (60,000 km) Service Plan is being extended to smaller cars in the range. And a company spokesman added that its marketing plans will target greater brand awareness of its 5 Year full Manufacturer’s warranty.<\/p>\n

New Hyundai Sante Fe goes on sale<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong>
\nHyundai has just launched its new third-generation Sante-Fe. It is more dynamic to look at and to drive. It has moved upmarket in quality, design and feel.<\/p>\n

This has been done in response to a raft of competitors delivering more stylish, more technologically advanced, more dynamic driving and more efficient new models.<\/p>\n

Against a background, where the old model (as of today) has the highest market share in Europe, and nearly 8,000 of the second-generation models have been sold here since 2006, the new model is very important for Hyundai Cars Ireland. Along with the old Coupe, the Sante Fe is the surviving foundation stone upon which the marque has been built upon in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The entry level 2 WD Comfort Manual version sells for \u20ac36,995. Next up is the 4 WD Executive Manual version at \u20ac40,995, with an automatic transmission option for an axtra \u20ac4,000. The range topper is the 4 WD Premium Automatic for \u20ac48,995.<\/p>\n

The new model is longer by 40mm, sits lower by 45mm and is slightly wider by 5mm, while it sits on a similar length wheelbase to the outgoing model. 17 inch alloy wheels are standard, including on the entry level 2 WD Comfort version.<\/p>\n

From the outside, the design is much more dynamic especially from a side profile. It looks really well, right down to the twin exhaust on one side. You could say that it has now added real style to its recognised quality of substance. But the latter has also been expanded with more passenger space, a 10 per cent increase in boot space and 7 seats as standard.\u00a0The third row of seats fold flat into the floor and each of the three second-row seats can be dropped down individually.<\/p>\n

Inside, there is a much more premium feel right trough from the leather steering wheel and a quality finish throughout. Leather abounded in the model I drove briefly recently.<\/p>\n

The new Santa Fe is powered by a lively and relatively refined 2.2 litre, 197 bhp diesel engine which emits\u00a0147 g\/km CO2 from the 2WD version (149g\/km from the 4WD), putting it both in the current Band C for VRT\u00a0and a current road tax level of \u20ac330 for a year. A low pressure ERG valve has helped reduce the CO2 levels in the manual gearbox versions.<\/p>\n

A six-speed manual transmission is standard. There is an automatic transmission available as an option in 4WD versions, but this pushes emissions up to 175 g\/km CO2. The higher VRT applied goes some way (but far from all the way) towards explaining the \u20ac4,000 premium for an automatic transmission.<\/p>\n

The standard specification includes the aforementioned leather multi-function steering wheel, electric windows, cruise control, electric lumber support (driver’s seat), glove box cooler, reversing cameras, air conditioning, auto folding mirrors, Bluetooth, and the radio\/CD system offers a USB and iPod connectivity.<\/p>\n

The 4 wheel-drive version offers updated ‘Torque On Demand’, a more proactive system with new sensor controls.<\/p>\n

Standard active safety features include driver and passenger airbags as well as side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags. ESP, VDC (vVehicle Dynamic Control), Downhill Brake Assist and Hill Start Assist are all standard. An interesting addition is a Trailer Stability Assist System, and an Active Bonnet Safety System should benefit pedestrians in an impact situation.<\/p>\n

Security features include an alarm function and auto locks. Tow bar wiring is also included as standard.<\/p>\n

Prices for the big selling commercial version of Sante Fe will not be announced until late this month (after Oct. 25th.) with availability expected for January. The delay is waiting for the MI \/ NI European Classification for the commercial version. It will however be 4WD and may arrive as a factory conversion for the first time.<\/p>\n

Overall, the new Hyundai Sante Fe is very impressive indeed and will help to keep Hyundai Cars Ireland flying high.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
