{"id":1680,"date":"2012-08-29T06:48:59","date_gmt":"2012-08-29T05:48:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/?p=1680"},"modified":"2012-08-30T10:55:02","modified_gmt":"2012-08-30T09:55:02","slug":"dunlop-young-racing-driver-of-the-month-for-june-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/index.php\/dunlop-young-racing-driver-of-the-month-for-june-announced\/1680","title":{"rendered":"Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for June announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rob Butler, from Navan, Co Meath has been selected as the Dunlop Young Racing Driver of the Month for June, for his performances at the wheel of his Honda Integra.<!--more-->The 20 year-old dominated the Irish Touring Car Championship races at Mondello Park on June 10, winning both races and also setting fastest lap each time.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from one race meeting at the end of 2010, Rob is in his first season of car racing, having raced karts very successfully for nine years. He started in 2002, aged 10, and was the Irish Open Champion in 2004 and 2005, in the Mini Max and JICA classes. In 2005, he also began racing farther afield, tackling European Championship races in France and Italy.<\/p>\n<p>2006 saw him come right through the field from the back of the grid to finish eighth in the JICA European Championship Final, also taking the fastest lap of the race. Rob also finished sixth at Monaco and seventh in the British Super One series. The following year, the then 14 year-old finished sixth in the KF2 World Series and fourth in the Italian Championship. In 2010, he again finished sixth at Monaco.<\/p>\n<p>Rob plans to complete this season in the Irish Touring Car Championship and will probably stay with the class in 2013. For 2014, he hopes to contest the UK Renault Clio Cup series.<\/p>\n<p>Rob, who is sponsored by PowerChron Technologies, Skylaunch, The Tuning Factory (Dublin), and AP Performance Engine Management Tuning, works in the accounts department of a Dublin building company.<\/p>\n<p>Having been selected as the third Dunlop Driver of the Month for the 2012 season, Rob is now a contender for the prestigious Dunlop Motorsport Ireland Young Racing Driver of the Year Award and the historic Sexton Trophy.
