Volkswagen Transporter named 2026 Irish Van of the Year
At a gala awards ceremony last Friday afternoon in the Conrad Hotel in Dublin, the Volkswagen Transporter was voted as the 2026 Irish Van of the Year in association with Continental Tyres.
Voted on by a jury of 13 of Ireland’s most experienced commercial vehicle journalists drawn from the Motoring Media Association of Ireland (MMAI), the annual Irish Van of the Year Award acknowledges productivity, safety, comfort and fuel efficiency in the latest commercial vehicle technologies.

The field of eligible models for this year’s Irish Van of the Year award were broken down into four categories and then the overall winner was drawn from those four winning models.
The Irish Van of the Year 2026 category winners:
- Car Derived Van of the Year 2026: Jeep Avenger CDV
- Electric Commercial of the Year 2026: Volkswagen e-Transporter / Ford E-Transit Custom
- 4×4 Commercial of the Year 2026: Toyota Land Cruiser Commercial
- Panel Van of the Year 2026: Volkswagen Transporter
In the Irish Car of the Year awards programme for 2026, the overall Irish Car of the Year title was awarded to the Renault 5 at the same event.
