Transport Infrastructure Ireland to hike toll charges again from January 2026
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TTI) has today announced further price hikes to a number of tolls across the national road network, effective from 1st January, 2026.
TII claims the price of tolls is regulated through an inflation mechanism and “can’t go above inflation”, adding that tolls pay for TII’s “annual protection and renewal of national roads”.
Road users will be charged an additional 10 cent when travelling through the toll point on the M50, as well as through the Port Tunnel in Dublin.
There will be a €1 increase for those travelling southbound during morning peak hours of 6am to 10am through the Port Tunnel – rising from €13 to €14.
TII said this is to “preserve capacity” for HGVs, as non-HGV traffic continued to increase in 2025 during peak periods.
All categories of vehicles using the M50 will experience an increase, according to TII, except for unregistered motor cars without a tag or video account.
A 10 cent hike is also set to be implemented at the M4 Kilcock to Kinnegad and M3 Clonee to Kells toll points.
Heavy goods vehicles exceeding 10,000kg holding a video account will see a 20 cent increase on the M50.
There will also be a 20 cent increase on HGVs weighing over 3,500kg having four axels or more on the M4.
