Textar expands braking range for heavier vehicles
Textar, the premium brand for OE-quality brake technology from TMD Friction, is expanding its range to include brake pads for the Ford Transit Custom, Tourneo Custom, Ford Bronco, Ford Ranger, Volkswagen Amarok and Porsche Macan vehicle models.
At the time of market launch, Textar says it is the only supplier in the independent aftermarket for brake pads for these heavy, powerful vehicles, which place high demands on the friction material – the heart of the brake.
Whether vans, off-roaders, pick-up trucks or performance SUVs – all these models bring significantly more mass to the road than classic passenger cars. In addition, they are often heavily loaded, tow trailers, have powerful engines, or are intended for demanding off-road or commercial use. The result: high thermal and mechanical stress on the brake system and above-average demands on the friction material.
“For heavy, powerful vehicles, we advise automotive professionals to pay particular attention to quality when selecting replacement parts,” explains Scott Irwin, head of technical training at TMD Friction.
“As the heart of the brake system, the brake pads in such models must meet the highest standards. Tailor-made brake pad formulations which are individually adapted to the vehicle, its braking system, and its intended use contribute significantly to safely coping with the special stresses and strains required by these vehicles.”
