Skoda invests €205m in new EV battery assembly hall
Skoda has invested €205 million in the expansion of battery production in Mladá Boleslav in the Czech Republic, becoming the largest producer of battery electric vehicle (BEV) battery systems in the Volkswagen Group.
The expanded 55,000 m2 facility will have a daily output of more than 1,100 cell-to-pack battery systems and up to 335,000 units a year for Skoda models and vehicles from other VW Group brands across several segments.

According to Skoda, the new production hall has a cycle time of 60 seconds and features an automation rate of 84 per cent and 131 robots, while also serving as a competence centre.
It introduces innovative manufacturing techniques covering the full process, from cell handling and preparation to stacking, precision welding and final assembly.
Skoda’s main plant is now the first VW Group site in Europe to produce cell-to-pack battery systems for use in high-volume EVs.
