Niall Murray recognised for ‘outstanding contribution’ to the tyre industry
The Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) paid tribute to long-serving industry leader Niall Murray at the recent ITIA Golf & Social gathering in Co Kilkenny, recognising his “outstanding contribution” to both the Association and the wider tyre industry following his departure from the ITIA National Executive Committee.
Formerly of the Tractamotors Group, Murray recently oversaw a significant milestone in the company’s history with its acquisition by global organisation ETEL, a development described as “the culmination of many years of dedication, hard work and business leadership”.
In a tribute, the ITIA acknowledged Murray’s “unwavering commitment” to the Association over many years, highlighting not only his service on the National Executive Committee, but also the “guidance, expertise and support he consistently offered to fellow members”.

Speaking during the presentation, ITIA chief executive Sue O’Neill, said that while Murray led one of the industry’s larger businesses, he has remained “a passionate advocate for independent tyre retailers and smaller operators throughout his time with the Association”.
“His willingness to share knowledge, provide practical advice and champion the interests of members has earned him widespread respect across the sector,” she said.
His ability to contribute constructively on important industry issues was also praised, describing him as someone who was “always prepared to roll up his sleeves, engage in debate and help advance the interests of the tyre industry while remaining respectful of differing opinions”.
Although stepping away from the ITIA National Executive Committee, Murray continues to play a leading role within the industry through his position as Chair of ELVES, a position that attendees said he will “undoubtedly approach with the same enthusiasm, energy and commitment that characterised his contribution to both Tractamotors and the ITIA”.
As part of the evening’s proceedings, Murray was presented with a token of appreciation in recognition of his many years of commitment to both the ITIA and the wider tyre industry.
O’Neill said that his acceptance of lifetime membership of the Association ensures that he will “remain closely connected to the organisation he has served with such distinction”.
“The recognition reflected the immense respect and admiration in which he is held by colleagues across the sector and the lasting impact he has made through his leadership, advocacy and dedication to the industry,” she added.
