New S-Class revealed
Mercedes-Benz has revealed the latest generation of its S-Class luxury saloon, which is scheduled to arrive in Ireland during the third quarter of 2026.
The new S‑Class asserts its status with a bolder silhouette and, for the first time, an illuminated grille, enlarged by around 20 per cent and accented with redesigned, three-dimensional chrome stars. This is complemented by a new Digital Light twin-star headlamp design. At the rear, newly designed taillights with three chrome-framed signature stars reinforce the S‑Class identity.

The new S‑Class will be available in a choice of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid engines. The latter option combines an upgraded six-cylinder engine with a powerful electric motor, promising an electric range of around 100km.
At its peak, Mercedes-Benz says the new eight-cylinder engine (M 177 Evo) in the Mercedes-Benz S 580 4MATIC Saloon delivers 395 kW (537 hp) and 750 Nm of torque.
Thanks to a refined injection system, optimised intake and exhaust ports, a revised intake camshaft, a flat-plane crank with a new firing order and improvements to the compressor wheel and turbocharger housing, Mercedes-Benz claims the V8 now responds more quickly and efficiently and delivers an even more refined driving experience.
The six‑cylinder petrol engine (M 256 Evo) in the S 450 4MATIC Saloon and S 500 4MATIC Saloon now responds even more dynamically, with torque increased up to 600Nm; and up to 640Nm using overtorque. Overtorque means a short-term increase in torque value to provide the S‑Class with more tractive force in certain driving situations, like overtaking or acceleration.

Meanwhile, the diesel-powered S 350 d 4MATIC Saloon and S 450 d 4MATIC Saloon feature the new six-cylinder OM 656 Evo engine, which introduces the first series-production use of an electrically heated catalytic converter for faster and more efficient exhaust after-treatment.
Inside, the new S-Class features a 14.4-inch central display and 12.3-inch passenger display beneath a continuous glass surface. Google Maps is also integrated into the MBUX infotainment system.
Full Irish pricing and spec for the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class will be announced closer to its arrival here in Q3.
