New Mercedes-Benz Actros more economical than predecessor

Since its arrival on to the irish market, local tests have proven the new mercedes-benz actros truck to be more economical on fuel than the model it replaces and significantly more economical than predicted.

Prior to launch, the much publicized target for the new Actros was a 6% saving over its predecessor. Over the past six months, the Irish dealer demonstration fleet has driven in excess of 250,00kms in real life conditions in the hands of Irish operators.

The net result has been that the target of 6% fuel economy has not only been reached but has been substantially exceeded.

Commenting, Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles sales manager Fergus Conheady said ‘this is an excellent result, especially when one remembers that the tests were conducted on similar routes with similar load profiles and the fact that the previous Actros held an official record for fuel economy.’
