New Irish solution combines EV charging with HVAC
EVHACS is an interesting new energy solution which combines electric vehicle (EV) charging with heat pumps and air conditioning units (HVAC).
EVHACS presents to market an innovative new charging system for EVs, which aims to help solve the challenge of charging solutions for electric-powered vehicle charging in the coming years.

The Irish company seeks to bring together the electric vehicle charging ecosystem, and the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. EVHACS (short for Electric Vehicle Heat Pump Air Conditioning Charging System) is a business with a patented technology in multiple jurisdictions (patent-pending in several others), that uniquely combines electric car charging with air conditioners.
The technology seeks to contribute to lowering carbon and commercial premises emissions by integrating two technologies thereby:
- lowering installation costs;
- lowering running costs;
- dynamically managing power consumption;
- lowering CO² output and energy consumption
The amount of EV chargers required by 2030 is significant according to multiple sources: Ireland, for instance, had 2,100 public EV chargers in 2023, up from 1,900 in 2021, and this needs to increase to 30,000 by 2030 according to reports; the UK had 25,000 public EV chargers installed in 2021 and there needs to be 280,000 to 480,000 by 2030.
In addition, the European Court of Auditors says there are 220,000 public chargers in Europe in 2020 which must grow to one million by 2025 and three million by 20301; EY, a consultancy, says that Europe will need 65 million chargers in total to fuel 130 million EV by 2035.

EVHACS seeks to show that the air conditioning unit is the perfect unit to house an EV charger. EVHACS entered commercial terms with OEM Mitsubishi to achieve its goal of bringing its new suite of units to market: heat pumps, and air conditioning units – each housing the company EV charger – as well as its stand-alone EV Chargers.
The company reports that it is also in the final phase of testing for payment gateways which will mean the owner of the unit can effectively recover the entire cost of the unit over time.
EVHACS technology is ideal for dealers and workshops and already it has installed units in BMW Conlons and Autoline among others. Standalone EV chargers have been installed in numerous outlets including Kevin Kennedy Motors in Belmullet, Co Mayo.
