New Citroen Berlingo ‘Airdream’ van launched

The newly updated Citroen Berlingo Airdream van, which uses their unique new e-HDi Airdream micro-hybrid drivetrain, has just gone on sale here. This advanced drivetrain delivers exceptional combined cycle fuel efficiency particularly up to 15 per cent in city driving and up to 60 mpg (or 4.7 L/100km) overall.

The new Berlingo Airdream’s micro-hybrid drivetrain incorporates the latest Euro 5 HDi 90 diesel engine, which develops 90 bhp @ 4,000rpm and a peak torque of 159 lb.ft @ 1,500rpm.

This engine is equipped with an advanced Stop & Start technology, which restarts the engine quickly and smoothly. The system also benefits from regenerative braking to recover and store energy that would otherwise be lost when slowing down.

It also incorporates Citroen’s EGS6 automated manual gearbox, which further improves fuel efficiency and also provides the benefits of two pedal driving, with a choice of automatic or manual (by steering column mounted paddles) shift modes.
The new Berlingo is now available in e-HDi 90 Airdream EGS6 L1 625 kg LX and also in e-HDi 90 Airdream EGS6 L2 750 kg LX versions, priced from €15,800 and €16,600 respectfully, both prices excluding VAT.

The newly launched Berlingo Airdream van benefits from the restyling that was introduced on the award-winning Berlingo van range earlier this year. This includes a wider grille, new chevron badge and a new headlight layout. The lower part of the grille, with its wider air intake, can be fitted with optional static cornering lights integrated with the fog lights.
The latest Berlingo models also have more aerodynamic door mirrors to help reduce fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions. The rear has revised badging and all Berlingo vans, except X models, gain new ‘Feroe’ wheel trims and new ‘Gazyban’ trim in the cab.

In addition, Berlingo HDi 75 manual L1 625 X and LX vans now have a slightly improved  combined cycle fuel economy figure of 55 mpg (or 5.1L/100km). The range entry level price for the former is €13.090 plus VAT.

The combined cycle fuel economy of Berlingo HDi 90 manual L1 models has also improved slightly to 53 mpg (or 5.3L/100km).

Sean O’Neill, Citroen Motors Ireland’s Fleet Manager, said: “The new Berlingo Airdream van and the latest changes made to the facelifted Berlingo van range will further boost the popularity of this, our best-selling LCV.  At a time when costs are rising, our customers will appreciate the fact that all Berlingos use less fuel and have lower CO2 emissions.”
