More than half of cars fail NCT first time round
More than half of the cars that went through the NCT last year failed first time around, figures published on NCT.ie reveal.
More than one milion cars were went through the NCT in 2012, with 51.3 per cent failing first time round. Some 515,212 vehicles passed first time round (48.3 per cent). A total of 4,144 cars received a “Fail Dangerous”.
Drilling down into the figures, 73 per cent of 08′ registered cars passed first time round, rising to 96 per cent after re-testing. 06′ registered cars didn’t fair as well with just 63 passing first time round, rising to 93 per cent after a re-test.
04 registered cars had a pass rate of just 50 per cent first time round, rising to 91 per cent after the re-test, while just over a third (35 per cent) of 02 cars passed first time round, reaching 85 per cent after re-tests.
