MG to build €200m European manufacturing facility in Spain

MG has confirmed plans to invest around €200 million into the construction of a new European manufacturing facility in Galicia, Spain.

MG, a brand of China’s SAIC Motors, said the plant marks a major milestone in its long-term commitment to the European market.

Production is scheduled to begin in 2028, with an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles. The facility is expected to create over 2,000 jobs.

MG said the site will integrate vehicle R&D, advanced manufacturing, core component supply, and intelligent logistics operations, while accelerating next-generation battery technology.

This includes the first mass-produced SolidCore, semi-solid-state battery and its Hybrid+ and plug-in hybrid technology portfolio.
