Liqui Moly launches new Mercedes-Benz hybrid oil
Liqui Moly has launched a new low-friction engine oil that has been developed to protect modern petrol, diesel and hybrid Mercedes-Benz engines, in the best possible way and optimise their performance.
Its new TopTec 4120 0W-40 has MB 229.52 approval from Mercedes-Benz. Among other things, this standard requires high fuel savings as well as high wear and corrosion protection from engine oils, of which Liqui Moly says it meets.

“TopTec 4120 0W-40 was primarily designed for the Mercedes-Benz M 254 Plug-in Hybrid engine, which absolutely requires this oil,” says Oliver Kuhn, deputy head of the oil laboratory at Liqui Moly.
The additive technology used is optimised for hybrid vehicles: “The combustion engine of hybrid vehicles often runs when cold, so that the oil does not reach high temperatures,” he added. “This can lead to problems due to moisture ingress through condensation. Accordingly, the oil offers optimum flow characteristics at an oil temperature of around 50 to 70 degrees Celsius and counteracts the problems caused by water and fuel ingress.”
Thanks to its modern formula, Liqui Moly says its new Top Tec 4120 0W-40 ensures consistently stable lubrication, even under extreme loads. This minimises wear and effectively prevents the formation of deposits.
By reducing friction losses, the oil supports better fuel efficiency and is claimed to keep the engine running at its best.
Particularly suitable for engines with a start/stop system, Liqui Moly says it offers reliable protection and optimal lubrication, even with frequent engine starts and stops.
Even though the new Liqui Moly oil was designed for Mercedes-Benz engines, the company says it is also suitable for many Asian hybrid vehicles that require an oil with ACEA C3 or API SP approval.
