Its new ‘Dark Matter’ electric motor weighs just 39 kilograms and will only be fitted to the Koenigsegg Gemera, a limited-production hybrid hypercar with a claimed 0-100km sprint time of 1.9 seconds.

Koenigsegg hails its Dark Matter e-motor as an “evolutionary leap in electric propulsion”.

“With the Dark Matter e-motor fitted, the Gemera drivetrain is now lighter, has a smaller footprint and is more engaging. Dark Matter is also the world’s most powerful automotive-grade e-motor with six-phase technology,” said Koenigsegg.
