Johnson & Perrott has acquired truck rental specialist National Truck Rental.
Mark Whitaker, CEO of Johnson & Perrott has confirmed that the company has reached agreement for the purchase of National Truck Rental. Headquartered in Dublin, NTR has a turnover of €10 million and employs 29 people. The agreement is subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, which is likely to take six weeks.
National Truck Rental, which was founded in 1980, is a market leader in the provision of specialist commercial vehicles and is heavily invested in both long-term contract hire and short-term rental of commercials with an emphasis on vehicles over 3.5 tonnes.
One of the co-founders Jim Byrne continues to run the business today and will remain in the business for a period of twelve months. The business operates from a 16,500 sq. foot building on a 2.2 acre site at Stadium Business Park near Blanchardstown which was purpose built in 2003 and is designed to facilitate the largest of trucks to drive straight through the workshop.
Through this acquisition, the overall Group will have a combined turnover of just under €100 Million and over 2,000 vehicles provided under contract hire / full service leasing with a book value in excess of €40 million. It will also have a combined rental fleet of 400 units, and a full staff compliment of 160 people.

Combined with the development of the new Cork dealership cluster at Bishopstown, the purchase of National Truck Rental is a very significant investment in the future of our group.”
