Henkel launches improvements for EV battery thermal management

Henkel has launched two new thermal interface materials for electric vehicle batteries: the Bergquist TGF 2030APS gap filler and the Loctite TLB 9270APS adhesive.

The German manufacturer said both two-component products target OEMs and battery makers handling higher energy densities, fast charging and new cell-to-pack and cell-to-chassis architectures.

The Bergquist TGF 2030APS is a silicone-free gap filler delivering 1.7 W/m·K thermal conductivity, with a dispensing rate above 40cc/sec for high-volume assembly.

Henkel added that the low-compression formulation cuts the risk of damage during assembly, while room-temperature curing lowers its carbon footprint.

The Loctite TLB 9270APS is a polyurethane adhesive for cell-to-pack designs, with 2 W/m·K thermal conductivity, high bond strength and electrical insulation.

It is formulated for aluminium and PET film substrates, has a 40-45 minute working time, and is solvent-free.
