First all-electric Lexus to offer Europe-wide chargepoint access

Buyers of the first electric Lexus car, the UX 300e, will have access to Europe’s largest network of around 160,000 public charging stations.

The ‘Lexus Charging Network’ is accessed via the new Lexus Link app, which is part of a new suite of connected services launched by the brand.

The Lexus Link’s Charging Station Finder quickly locates charging stations wherever owners drive in Europe and, once they arrive at a charging station, they simply identify themselves using the Lexus Link app or an RFID card, before charging.

Using the Lexus Charging Network, UX 300e owners will benefit from receiving only one contract and a single charging card for all participating charging stations, meaning they can charge in different countries without the need for a large number of cards or contracts with other providers. Payment is made via a single monthly invoice.

The Lexus Link app gives the driver remote control of key vehicle functions such as charging, defrosting and the air conditioning system. The app also includes a ‘find my car’ feature, the ability to remotely send destinations to the navigations system and a service and maintenance tracker.

“Owners of our new UX 300e will discover an electrified driving experience that is unique to Lexus,” said Pascal Ruch, head of Lexus Europe. “In parallel, we have embraced the latest connectivity technology, to ensure the UX 300e meets our world-class benchmarks for customer satisfaction.”

The Lexus UX 300e is expected go on sale in Ireland next year. It is powered by a 201PS electric motor and is equipped with a 54.3kWh battery, giving a range of up to 300km.

It also gets a 50kW DC charger that will get the battery back to 80 per cent charge in approximately 50 minutes.
