ESB increasing public EV charging prices
ESB is increasing the price of its public electric vehicle (EV) charging network by as much as 14 per cent, citing “continued increases in energy and operational costs”.
Its standard pay-as-you-go rates will rise from 64 cent and 66 cent per kWh to 72 cent and 73 cent per kWh, depending on the charging speed and the method of payment.

ESB claims the higher costs “will support the ongoing maintenance of the network, as well as further investment in high power chargers and expanded availability across the country”.
ESB will also increase the price per kWh for its slower 22kW and below chargers to 55 cent, with a €4.79 additional monthly membership fee up to 73 cent per kWh for faster chargers using a standard contactless pay-as-you-go method.
Ionity, which operates 350kW chargers at Circle K filling stations, is also increasing its pay-as-you-go prices to 85 cent per kWh. This also puts its charging network at a significantly higher price than petrol or diesel at the pump.
