Citroen targets affordability with new e-C3
Citroen has unveiled the e-C3, the all-electric version of what is the brand’s most popular model.
First launched in 2002, the French marque has sold more than 5.6 million units of the C3 worldwide, and says the fourth generation, fully-electric version has been “completely reinvented” with a fresh look, and is loaded with technology.
Pricing and specification for the Irish market has not yet been confirmed, but Citroen has said the e-C3 will start from less than €25,000 in most of Europe, meaning it should still cost well under €30,000 in Ireland. However, it won’t arrive here until the end of 2024, just in time for the 251-registration period.

For the first time in the history of the C3 hatchback, Citroen is fitting its Advanced Comfort Suspension as standard equipment to all versions of the new e-C3. Citroen says its seats are tailored for the car and use additional foam to provide a supportive ride whatever the distance.
At 1.57m high, the new e-C3 is also taller than its predecessor, and benefits from SUV-style ground clearance and 310-litres of luggage space.
The new e-C3 will be powered by 113hp electric motor with a fully automatic transmission, that can take the car from 0-100 km/h in around 11 seconds. It has a provisional top speed of 135km/h. Its 44kWh battery pack is said to deliver up to 320km of driving range (WLTP).
The 100kW DC fast charging capability allows recharging from 20 to 80 per cent capacity in 26 minutes. A domestic wallbox should take around four hours for the same charge.

Speaking on the importance of this new B-segment car launch, Colin Sheridan, managing director of Citroen Ireland stated: “The all-new, all-electric Citroen e-C3 is a game changer for the B-hatchback segment in Ireland.
“It combines the attributes customers most appreciate in SUVs; taller, more purposeful styling, but with a similar footprint to its predecessor, and crucially at a more affordable price making electrification more accessible and affordable for all.”
