All-new Toyota Yaris petrol model arrives in Ireland
Toyota says that their fourth generation Yaris petrol is now available from €19,695. And an update on the new Yaris self-charging hybrid electric which we wrote about yesterday will be arriving in dealerships in late October, with a new fourth generation 1.5 Hybrid Dynamic Force system.

The first-generation Yaris was launched in Europe in 1999, and the second-generation Yaris was the first B-segment model to gain a top five-star rating in Euro NCAP’s safety testing programme, while the third-generation introduced hybrid electric power to the small car market for the first time and Toyota also reminds us that it also made further advances in safety with the standard provision of their ‘Safety Sense’ advanced driver assistance systems.
Toyota tells us that the latest generation Yaris, has been redesigned both inside and out. It features a new and more dynamic design and a more engaging interior, which is spacious.
Toyota boasts that the new Yaris is designed for customers looking for an energetic and dynamic style. Adding that it has a more powerful looking front and rear wings add to the overall taut, coherent look.

Inside, Toyota says it features high-quality materials can include an innovative felt trim finish for the door panels and, for the first time in a Yaris, a soft-touch instrument panel to deliver a warmer cabin ambience.
The new Yaris is the first application of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) philosophy for a small car through the new GA-B platform. Toyota says that the GA-B platform is central to the Yaris’ improved dynamic performance, giving a lower centre of gravity and much greater body rigidity. It adds that the car’s stability inspires confidence, while its response to the driver’s inputs is natural and precise, leading to a heightened sense of agility.
The Japanese carmaker says that the GA-B platform has allowed for a significant increase in body rigidity, which fosters vehicle stability and ride comfort, together with lower noise and vibration levels
This approach is complemented by advances in active and passive systems, which Toyota boasts has created the world’s safest compact car. It adds that true to it’s commitment to democratising safety, it benefits from a greater range of ‘Toyota Safety Sense’ active systems as standard, including ‘Advanced Driver Assistance Systems’ (ADAS), such as ‘Lane Trace Assist’, ‘Emergency Steering Assist’, and ‘Intersection Turn Assistance’.
The functionality of the Pre-Collision System has been increased so that it can detect pedestrians by day and night and cyclists in daytime driving. New Yaris also offers segment-first Intersection Turn Assistance to recognise collision risks with oncoming traffic and pedestrians when making a turn at a crossroads, and is the first Toyota to be equipped with centre airbags. These help prevent driver and passenger colliding with each other in a side impact. With these provisions and the benefit of significantly increased body rigidity from the GA-B platform, Toyota says that it aims to make the new Yaris the world’s safest small car.
A couple of other changes – the driver’s instrument binnacle can be fitted with twin digital meters flanking the TFT multi-information display, and is presented with just a shallow hood. Last, but not least, the steering wheel size has been reduced for better visibility supporting the ‘eyes on the road, hands on the wheel’ concept. All new Yaris grades enable smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing users easy access to their favourite apps using the car’s central multimedia control screen.
Toyota claims that the new Yaris petrol has their most efficient 1 litre and 1.5 litre petrol engines, driving from 5.6L/Km (50 mpg) and with low CO2 emissions. It’s the most affordable entry into the new generation Yaris and has a sporty drive, manual gearbox, higher HP and lower CO2. It packages tech spec, design and safety features all for an entry-level price of €19,695.
