Bosch and Cariad complete Level 2 ADAS software partnership

Bosch and Cariad, Volkswagen Group’s software subsidiary, have completed the joint development of assisted and automated driving functions within their ‘Automated Driving Alliance’.

Together, the project partners say they have created a software stack with artificial intelligence (AI) that can be integrated into various vehicle classes, from small cars to premium models, and into both electric and combustion engine platforms.

The solution is available to both project partners for use in series production, with the Volkswagen ID.EVERY1 confirmed to use the technology once it goes into series production in 2027.

As project partners for automated driving, Bosch and Cariad say they have laid the foundation for bringing ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) driving functions to the mass market.

Level 2 driving functions provide comprehensive support to drivers and, at their highest level, claim to enable hands-free driving in various traffic situations.

The system was tested with a dedicated fleet of 1,500 development vehicles across Europe, Japan, and North America and trained based on this data. This included logistics providers, leasing companies, and service vehicles that are in daily use worldwide.
