Gates adds new Ford EcoBoost wet timing belts

First produced in 2009, the EcoBoost range of engines is available in a vast selection of Ford vehicles, ranging from 1.0-litre up to 3.5-litre.

In particular, the 1.0-litre Ford EcoBoost engine version utilises a wet timing drive system, meaning the timing belt operates within an oil environment. Therefore, it is crucial to keep up to date with the OEM servicing and maintenance intervals for vehicle applications utilising wet timing drive systems also known as Belt-In-Oil timing drive systems.

It is also highly recommended that the engine oil be replaced with the correct OEM specified oil and the correct OEM specified oil filter to aid the service life of the wet timing drive systems components.

To meet the needs of workshops catering to Ford EcoBoost 1.0-litre applications, Gates has released two new timing belts in its Belt-In-Oil range – the T354HOB and T359HOB. The difference being the width of the belts 18.1mm and 16mm, both timing belts are also available in various Gates Powergrip Kit formats.

Gates says the new range of Belt-in-Oil belts offers significant enhancements for installers and their customers. They provide improved wear and chemicals resistance, belt back resistance and low belt elongation over life (therefore enhanced lifetime safety).
