Interesting chart illustrates distribution of automotive groups worldwide
Felipe Munoz, JATO Dynamic’s industry insights expert, has shared an interesting chart which illustrates the distribution of automotive groups worldwide, broken down by country and brand.
The volume of groups from within China stands out, with brands such as BYD, Ora and Maxus having already introduced a number of new electric vehicle models in Ireland this year.

Explaining the chart, Munoz said: “Have a look at the latest update about the automotive industry composition by car groups and their origin.
“Basically there are 31 main OEMs around the world in addition to around 70 other brands that don’t make part of any big group.
“In total there are approximately 200 car brands today, excluding the some nice manufacturers like Koenigsegg, Czinger, Zenvo, Noble, W Motors, Hennessey, etc.
“As you can see, many of these brands make part of Chinese OEMs, followed by Japanese, European, and Americans. There are also carmakers from India, South Korea, Iran, Russia, and Turkey.”
