Yuasa and Somora back Árón Taylor-Smith for 2025 BTCC season

Yuasa, one of Europe’s leading battery brands, is charging into the 2025 British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) season alongside Irish racer Árón Taylor-Smith, with support from leading Irish distributor Somora Motor Parts.

Following a standout 2024 season in which Taylor-Smith dominated the Independents’ Championship with 20 class wins and two outright podiums, he now takes on the grid with the factory-backed Toyota Gazoo Racing UK team. Behind the wheel of the Toyota Corolla GR Sport, Taylor-Smith is fully powered up for another championship challenge—this time with Yuasa in his corner.

Yuasa says its sponsorship underscores the brand’s deep commitment to high-performance motorsport, reliability, and its expanding influence across both the UK and Ireland automotive markets.

As part of the partnership, Yuasa branding will feature prominently on Taylor-Smith’s race suit, reinforcing its position as a top-tier choice for automotive professionals and enthusiasts alike.

Somora Motor Parts, long-time distributor of Yuasa batteries in Ireland, will also support Taylor-Smith’s campaign. With motorsport running through the veins of the business since its founding in 1985, the partnership is a natural extension of Somora’s passion for performance and commitment to delivering quality parts to the trade.

Stephen Lawless, of Somora Motor Parts, said: “Everyone at Somora has been a long-time fan of the BTCC, frequently travelling to support Árón over the years. To now be actively involved in his BTCC program is incredibly rewarding.

“Árón has created a platform that maximises our brand exposure, particularly in the Irish media, while also showcasing Yuasa Batteries, a key product line for us. We have a series of exciting activations planned with Árón throughout the season and look forward to seeing what he can achieve as part of Toyota Gazoo Racing UK.”
