Textar is now starting to fit all of its packaging with the new ‘PROriginal’ safety seals to better protect its customers from counterfeit goods. Every product is step by step provided with the new PROriginal seal, which secures the packaging and must be removed before it can be opened. On the back of the seal, there is a QR code and a twelve digit, alphanumeric code, which are both uniquely associated with the product.
This means the customer has two ways of verifying the authenticity of the product: By scanning the QR code with the Textar Brakebook app (free for iOS and Android) or another QR code scanner, or by entering the alphanumeric code on the website www.fightingthefakes.com.
If the customer has an invalid code or one that has already been scanned, then it is highly likely that the product is a counterfeit and Textar should be informed immediately using the online contact form or the service hotline (+49 (0) 2171 7032397) in order to initiate further steps.
“We want to take a clear stand against product piracy, as counterfeits are becoming an ever greater threat in the brake industry. They often contain prohibited materials such as asbestos or do not offer the same performance or comfort as original brake pads. Poor break performance can quickly lead to road traffic accidents,” as pointed out by Marco Loth, VP of product management and engineering at TMD Friction.
