Stylish and spacious new Peugeot 5008 SUV 7-seater

Peugeot Ireland has just launched its all-new 5008, a spacious and stylish seven-seater SUV designed for modern families. It offers style and practicality.

Based on the state-of-the-art STLA medium platform, the new 5008 delivers a smooth, comfortable drive with a sophisticated and inviting interior, along with two efficient electrified powertrains.

Customers can choose between a hybrid powertrain or the all-electric version with up to 502 (WLTP) kilometres of range, at the same starting price of €50,995, when you include the SEAI grant.

Peugeot says that it already offers the broadest electric line-up of any mainstream European brand, with the E-5008 becoming its second entry into the large electric SUV following the launch of the new E-3008.

Let’s cut to the case on the all-electric version. Range is top of the buyer’s list. Well the E-5008 is equipped with a 73kWh battery and a 210hp motor. The all-electric 5008 promises up to 502km (WLTP) of range. DC fast charging allows a 20 to 80 per cent top-up in just 30 minutes.

A long-range 98kWh variant, with a promised 668km WLTP range will follow in mid-summer. For a spacious SUV, tipping the scales over 500km range will tick the box for many potential buyers. And the long-range 98kWh option (from July) promising 668km WLTP will follow for about €4,500 more, will certainly bolster the appeal. There will also be a duel-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) version with a circa 500km range to follow.

If you prefer, at a similar price to the 210 bhp all-electric version, there is also the option of the 5008 Hybrid 136 e-DCS6. Peugeot’s 48V hybrid system pairs a 136hp petrol engine with an electric motor for improved efficiency. In urban driving, Peugeot claims that it can operate in 100 per cent electric mode for up to 50 per cent of the time, which it says reduces fuel consumption by up to 15 per cent (5.8 l/100 km WLTP). A good choice between two efficient powertrains.

Back to that formula of blending practicality with style to maximise appeal. The new 5008 features a sleek, aerodynamic profile with high belt-lines and striking gloss black accents.

It is available in six colours, and the GT models boast a distinctive Black Diamond roof and rear spoiler. LED lighting technology enhances visibility, with pixel LED headlights and signature three-claw LED daytime running lights (on GT versions).

The 5008 comes with 19-inch alloy wheels featuring a geometric design that enhances both aesthetics and – according to Peugeot – boosts the aerodynamics.

Peugeot tells us that the 5008 is built for growing families and adventure seekers alike. With three rows of seating as standard, the interior ensures every passenger travels in comfort. The sliding and tilting second row provides easy access to the decently spacious third row, while tri-zone climate control keeping everyone comfortable, especially on long journeys. The GT trim also adds rear window blinds and interior ambient lighting for a touch of luxury.

At the heart of the 5008 is Peugeot’s advanced ‘Panoramic i-Cockpit’, featuring an impressive 21-inch curved digital display that combines a raised head-up display with a seamless central touchscreen. The i-Connect advanced infotainment system ensures you stay connected, offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3D connected navigation, and over-the-air updates. For added convenience, the customisable i-Toggle system lets drivers and passengers set up to 10 shortcuts for frequently used functions.

The new 5008 is available in ‘Allure’ and ‘GT’ trims, both well specified. The Allure includes adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, wireless phone charging, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot detection, 19-inch alloy wheels. The stylish interior is fitted wit embossed fabric and leather-effect trim.

Meanwhile the move to the GT spec version gives you a ‘Black Diamond’ roof, pixel LED headlights, 3D LED rear lights, ‘handsfree’ smart electric tailgate, ambient interior lighting, heated seats and heated steering wheel.

Unfortunately, one of the very popular family attractions for the out-going 5008 was the three individual rear seats (middle-row), all of which have ISOFIX anchors, and the now the centre seat (in row-two) does not. Peugeot is not alone, and fewer new cars have three ISOFIX anchors.

The new PEUGEOT 5008 is now available for order, with prices starting from: Hybrid 136 e-DCS6: €50,995 (Allure), €54,995 (GT); with the all electric E-5008 73kWh 210: €50,995 (Allure), €54,495 (GT). When it arrives in July, the Long-Range E-5008 will have a price-tag of €55,495. The all-electric version pricing includes the SEAI grant.

With its blend of functional space (MPV-like), styling and driver position (SUV), comfort and safety, and smart technology, the new 5008 is a brilliant SUV option for families.
