Stellantis issues Citroen recall over faulty Takata airbags

Stellantis has issued an immediate “stop drive” recall across Europe for all Citroen C3 and DS3 vehicles produced between 2014 and 2019, due to faulty Takata airbags.

The recall comes following the death last week of a woman in Reims, France, who sustained fatal injuries by one of the airbags in a 2014 Citroen C3.

According to local media reports, the airbag exploded on impact, sending metal fragments through the car.

It is also claimed to be the second confirmed death in France caused by a defective Takata airbag.

The French transport ministry has since called for all Citroen C3 and DS3 vehicles produced between 2014 and 2019 to be removed from the roads.
