Škoda Ireland takes Gold

An Irish Škoda employee has taken first-place in his category at the International Škoda Challenge Competition, with two of his fellow colleagues also securing top-ten positions.

Darragh Smith, won the Parts Manager Category at the International Finals of the Škoda Challenge, which sees over 200 Škoda employees from 35 countries compete in the initiative – designed to ensure that Škoda employees, across the world, maintain best-in-class standards, for their ever-growing customer base.

Darragh began his career in Brady’s Škoda, Cavan, five years ago, where he trained as an apprentice technician before moving to the Parts Department, in September 2016.

Paul Bruton, who has been a Diagnostic Technician with Noel Deasy Škoda, based in Cork, for 23 years, placed seventh in the Diagnostic Technician category. Robbie Matthews, a Škoda brand manager for Western Motors since 2012, also placed seventh in the Sales Manager category.

A total of seven Škoda employees from across the country competed in the eighth international finals of the Škoda Challenge, which took place in Spain, last week. The Škoda Challenge has become a prestigious benchmark for measuring the qualities of the best employees in the global Škoda service network and includes several different categories, including Best Sales Executive, Best Sales Manager, Best Service Advisor, Best Service Technician, Best Diagnostic Technician, and Best Parts Manager.

Commenting on the results of the International Škoda Challenge, William Lee, Head of Aftersales at Škoda Ireland, said: “I would like to congratulate Darragh on winning the Parts Manager category, as well as Paul and Robbie for securing top-ten finishes, at the International Škoda Challenge. We are very proud to have an extremely motivated and talented team representing Škoda Ireland and it is great to see their hard work and dedication being rewarded and recognised internationally. With the first three months of 2018 marking Škoda’s most successful quarter in Ireland, to date, these awards demonstrate the industry-leading service that we offer to our customers in Ireland.”
