Renault is to be rebranded as Alpine for next year’s 2021 Formula One season.
Fernando Alonso is returning to the sport following a two-year absence and his team will adopt the colours of the French national flag – red, white and blue.
The 39-year-old won back-to-back world championships racing for Renault in 2005 and 2006.
Renault team principal Cyril Abiteboul commented: “This change comes at a key moment in the trajectory of the team and the sport.
“Alpine brings a new meaning, new values and colours to the paddock with the spirit of competition from other worlds and French creative agility. Alpine has its place in Formula One and can challenge for victory.”
Alonso will team up with Frenchman Esteban Ocon next season, with Daniel Ricciardo joining McLaren in 2021.
