2017 is looking extremely positive with order take up 25 per cent on this time last year for new cars, and vans have also been doing well with orders up 10 per cent for January registrations.

Renault’s successful 2016 was in part due to sales of the new Kadjar, the ever popular Clio and the introduction of all-new Mégane as well as Phase 2 of the Dacia Duster. The Renault Captur continues to claim pole position in its segment and is going from strength to strength.

Renault has also had a very busy year with a number of new models being introduced – including the all-new Mégane, all-new Mégane Grand Coupé and all-new Mégane Sport Tourer. Orders are also in for the all-new Scenic and Grand Scenic and January will also see the arrival of Phase 2 Clio.

The availability of finance through Renault Bank was also key to the Group’s success, as was Renault’s 162 offer which was reintroduced in November for 171 registrations offering customers 3% APR, 3 years free servicing, and 5 years warranty and roadside assistance.

Renault Bank celebrated five years in Ireland in September and to date has lent in excess of €195 million to Renault and Dacia Customers, up 62 per cent on the same time last year. €80 million of this amount was lent to SMEs and business customers, showing that Irish businesses are investing again.  Sixty per cent of Renault Bank private customers took a Renault ReFlex (PCP product), up 34 per cent on 2015.

Ireland’s shockingly affordable brand, Dacia will celebrate five years in Ireland in 2017 and in January will see the arrival of the Phase 2 models of the Sandero, Sandero Stepway and Logan MCV.

Almost 4,500 Dacia vehicles were sold to date in 2016 with over 2,000 Dusters, almost 2,000 Sandero and Sandero Stepway and almost 350 of the bootylicious Logan MPV. The Dacia brand has continued to grow in popularity, thanks to its affordability and no nonsense approach, encouraging customers to ‘do the maths’! The Duster Commercial is continuing to prove popular with Irish business customers and was recently judged the “Best 4×4 VAN” for the second consecutive year at the What Van? Awards 2017.

Europe’s best selling and multi award winning LCV range also performed well in 2016 taking 16.3% of the LCV market in November and finishing on the podium in 3rd position. It looks to be a good start for Renault LCV range with orders already up 10% for January registrations.

The increasingly popular Trafic was the best-selling model for Renault, followed by Master and Kangoo. With its award winning range combined with the very attractive 5 year/200,000km warranty, Renault LCV continues to be a very affordable proposition for businesses of all sizes.

Renault Group is Ireland’s fastest growing network with 28 dealerships nationwide and will welcome more dealerships to the network in 2017. In 2016 there were two new dealerships opened – Linders Renault in Turvey in Swords and Blacktstone Motors in Cavan.

2017 will be another big year for Renault Group, with not only the youngest model range in the market, but also the introduction of All-New Koleos, Alaskan and ZOE Z.E 40 which will see a significant increase in the range, and the introduction of a full purchase option for customers.

Renault continues its successful sponsorship of The Late Late Show Ireland’s biggest chat show, as well as the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on TodayFM. Renault has also confirmed it will sponsor RTE One’s Dancing with the Stars which commences on the 8th January.

Patrick Magee, Country Operations Manager, Renault Group:
“2016 has been a fantastic year for the Renault Group with the introduction of five new models, and a great overall performance across the two brands in the market. We are looking at a very positive 9.4% combined market share for year end and a 4th position place for the Group, with LCV on the podium again. 2017 has started strong with our Group order take up 25% for new cars, and up 10% on vans for January 171 registrations. It’s been an exciting year for Renault with the youngest model range out there and we will be adding to this next year with all-new Koleos, Alaskan and ZOE Z.E. 40 which will have the longest range of any electric car, so overall a great outlook for the new year ahead”.
