Peugeot reveals face-lifted 2008 with more range
Peugeot has revealed a new face-lifted version of 2008, which it says boasts a more assertive SUV design, enhanced technology and new electrified powertrains with over 400km of range.
The updated SUV features the brand’s new front and rear light signature and a redesigned front end with the new Peugeot shield.
Produced at the Vigo plant in Spain, the new Peugeot 2008 will go on sale in Ireland later this year with a range based on three versions, including Active, Allure, and GT, with a choice of engines, including a new 115kW/156bhp all-electric engine that has a range of up to 406km (WLTP combined cycle).
The battery has a capacity of 52.5 kWh and can be charged to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes using a fast charger. A full charge takes 7.5 hours using a 7kW wallbox charger, according to Peugeot. It adds that 0-100 km/h is 8.5 seconds.
In addition to the electric powertrain, the new Peugeot 2008 also features a choice of advanced 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engines. The PureTech 100 is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, while the PureTech 130 can be combined with either the EAT8 eight-speed automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.
A hybrid option will follow in 2024 with the new 48V hybrid powertrain, which consists of a new-generation 136 bhp 1.2 litre PureTech petrol engine, coupled with a new six-speed dual-clutch electrified gearbox that includes an electric motor.
The updated 2008 also comes with new colour options, innovative wheel designs, updated badges, and new refined fabrics.
The popular French SUV also retains the same exterior dimensions: 4.30 m long, 1.987 m wide (including mirrors), 1.55 m high. The boot volume is unchanged at 434 litres (under the parcel shelf).
Additionally, the car features an updated Peugeot i-Cockpit with a new design for the digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch central touchscreen for all models.
The Peugeot i-Connect system offers full connectivity through wireless mirroring (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) and enables easy access to all infotainment functions via the “OK Peugeot” voice command.
Advanced safety and driving assistance technologies in this model include: adaptive cruise control with stop and go function; automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection; extended traffic sign recognition and display; active lane departure warning with lane correction; blind spot monitoring; driver attention alert; HD parking aid cameras; enhanced traction with grip control.
