Mann Filter to unveil new filter at Automechanika

Mann-Filter is poised to unveil a new cabin filter with a biofunctional coating at this year’s Automechanika Exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, September 16-20.

FreciousPlus absorbs allergens and prevents bacteria and mould fungi from entering the passenger compartment.

Vehicle occupants are increasingly experiencing allergic reactions caused by pollen, bacteria and mould fungi. To help affected passengers to breathe more freely, Mann-Filter has created an innovative solution. FreciousPlus cabin filters prevent contaminates from entering the passenger compartment through the ventilation system.

Mann-FilterCabin filters in the current Mann-Filter product range contain a particle filter layer and often an additional premium activated carbon layer. The new FreciousPlus cabin filter also features both of these layers. Its particle filter layer removes virtually 100 per cent of coarse particles such as dust, pollen and tyre dust as well as tiny, respirable particles such as particulate matter. The next layer contains activated carbon, which is obtained from coconut shells. This adsorbs almost all harmful gases, unpleasant odours as well as ozone from the air flowing through the cabin.

The new feature of the FreciousPlus cabin filter is an additional third layer. This innovative biofunctional special layer is antiallergenic and antimicrobial. Both driver and passengers are thus protected against allergens, bacteria and mould fungi. The new cabin filter absorbs up to 100 per cent of allergens while growth of mould fungi is reduced by more than 95 per cent.

The antiallergenic properties of the new filter layer are provided by an innovative polyphenol coating. Polyphenols are natural products with anti-inflammatory properties and are considered to have health benefits. They are found in many plants such as green tea and pomegranates and have the ability to absorb allergens and render them harmless. Mann-Filter has used this effect with the polyphenol coating in its new FreciousPlus cabin filters.

The new FreciousPlus also looks different from other cabin filters. The yellow colour of its polyphenol coating gives it a distinctive look. Like other cabin filters, it has a service interval of 15,000 kilometres or once a year.
