Malcolm Short, Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket (UK) Ltd Technical Services Manager, said: “This year has seen us extend the LuK clutch range to cater for an additional 5.2 million vehicles on-the-road.

“There have been some significant additions in recent months to the LuK Master Cylinder and Slave Cylinder range and some customers may be unaware of how strong our range is. All the parts are OE and are available through the UK independent aftermarket.

“We will continue to add to our LuK product range as we approach the end of the year and into 2013 to make sure we remain ahead of our competitors.”

He said that the company was continuing to add to its industry-leading DMF range and warned that garages run the risk of damaging a customer’s vehicle by fitting a 4-in-1 solid flywheel replacement kit instead of a DMF.

“Mechanics and drivers have reported severe damage being caused to vehicles by the fitment of non-original equipment (OE) conversion kits,” he said.

“Modern petrol and diesel engines are now designed to be lighter and to produce more power and torque at lower speeds. They are also expected to be more fuel efficient and produce fewer emissions while still providing a smooth and refined driving experience.

“DMFs are vital in meeting all of these targets which vehicle manufacturers and the car-buying public now demand.

“They protect a vehicle’s drivetrain from damage caused by harmful vibrations and are now fitted on one in two new cars being built in Europe today with one in three cars currently on UK’s roads being fitted with one , accounting for around 10 million vehicles.

“It is just not worth the risk of fitting a 4-in-1 replacement kit instead of a DMF.”
