LKQ Euro Car Parts launches ‘Bag in a Box’ solution for MPM engine oils

LKQ Euro Car Parts has launched a new ‘Bag in a Box’ packaging solution for its MPM range of engine oils. This more sustainable packaging replaces traditional plastic containers with a cardboard outer box and a reusable inner bag.

The company claims the the 20-litre Bag in a Box offers customers a greener alternative to plastic packaging, and is set to take 40,000kg of plastic out of circulation per year.

The outer box is made from sustainable cardboard and manufactured without additional dyes or bleaches. Once the oil is finished, the interior bag can be removed and the cardboard easily compressed for recycling, taking up to 90 per cent less space than the previous plastic containers and saving garages money on waste disposal.

MPM is a leading provider of OEM-approved lubricants and specialised liquids and is part of the Emotive house of brands – of which LKQ is the leading distributor across Europe.

This launch comes after LKQ Euro Car Parts announced considerable investment into MPM in Ireland, increasing stock levels at its national distribution centre in Santry, Co Dublin.

Colin Cottrell, group marketing director at LKQ UK and Ireland, said: “We’re constantly looking for ways to expand our range and increase flexibility for our customers, while minimising our collective impact on the environment.

“We’re proud that our Bag in a Box innovation – developed with our partners at Emotive – means customers can access their favourite MPM oils in a more sustainable way. We’ve prioritised sustainability at all levels of the technology’s development, from its outer shell to its leak-proof faucet.”
