LDV reveals new EV model line-up

Chinese-owned van brand LDV, which is part of the country’s largest automotive manufacturer SAIC, has added a new line-up of electric vans, based on the Maxus model range.

The brand, which is set to launch under the name of Maxus in continental Europe in 2019, revealed its face lifted EV80 model last week.

The van gets restyled bodywork and interior enhancements, as well as new body variants including a chassis-cab, standard panel van, high panel van, and wheelchair-accessible vehicle, the latter of which is the first all-electric WAV of its size on the European market, according to the company.

The light commercial vehicle manufacturer also announced a deal with LeasePlan as its exclusive contract hire partner in Europe, as it prepares for its full brand launch in 2019.

Under the new agreement with SAIC, LeasePlan will offer operational leasing for the EV80 to business customers across continental Europe. LDV is continuing to establish partnerships with large businesses looking to reduce fleet emissions and vehicle operating costs.

Speaking at the IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Hannover, Pieter Gabriëls, Managing Director of SAIC Mobility Europe, said: “Securing this new agreement with LeasePlan, a world leader in fleet management, underlines the demand for the EV80, as well as the robust business plan for Europe which we are now putting in place.”
