Joe Duffy Motor Group acquires McAllister Volkswagen
North Dublin Volkswagen main dealers McAllister Volkswagen and the Joe Duffy Motor Group have concluded an agreement whereby the ownership of the McAllister Volkswagen business will transfer in its entirety to Joe Duffy Motor Group by year end. The arrangement is one that will allow the present owners of McAllister Volkswagen, brothers Richard and Alex McAllister, to retire from the industry having enjoyed life-long careers in motor retailing.
Under the agreement, which will see the McAllister Volkswagen staff of twenty-two transfer to the Joe Duffy Motor Group, the dealership will continue to operate under the name McAllister Volkswagen at its high-profile location in Airside Motor Park, Swords, County Dublin.

McAllister Volkswagen has a heritage in motoring which dates back almost 100 years to when the late father of its present owner, also named Richard McAllister, provided mechanical services to the legendary Dr. Colohan of Malahide, the gentleman famed for having imported Ireland’s first motor car. Appointed Volkswagen main dealers in 1994, the company originally operated from premises in Malahide before moving to its current location in Airside Motor Park in 2004.
Under McAllister family ownership, the McAllister Volkswagen dealership established a strong customer base in North Dublin. Through their purchase of the business, Joe Duffy Motor Group, Ireland’s leading motor retailers, will further increase the number of franchises that the Group represents and strengthen its position in North Dublin in line with its strategic plan for growth and expansion.
Joe Duffy Motor Group, established in 1972 currently has a team of 160 employees. It is retail partner to ten of the world’s most prestigious marques which it represents across six flagship sites in Dublin. In addition to Volkswagen, their portfolio also includes BMW, MINI, BMW Motorrad, Audi, Opel, Mazda, Porsche, Volvo and Land Rover.
