Iveco has launched a three-way approach towards environmentally sustainable LCV operations, with a new range of Daily vans offering different alternative fuel technologies.
The new Daily Blue Power family consists of vans powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Euro 6 diesel and electric propulsion.
The Daily Hi-Matic Natural Power is the first CNG-powered LCV with an 8-speed automatic gearbox in the industry. With a 136bhp 3.0-itre engine, it offers a 35 per cent saving in running costs against a conventional diesel model, with CO2 emissions 5% lower, though this can be brought down to a 95% reduction if the van is run on biomethane-sourced CNG.
The Daily Hi-Matic Natural Power also delivers improvements in fuel economy, with 2.5 per cent fuel savings on a real urban cycle, compared to the CNG manual version.
The second model in the Daily Blue range is the Euro 6 RDE Ready, which Iveco states is the most advanced diesel LCV on the market.
It is powered Iveco’s 2.3-litre F1A diesel engine, which was fully re-engineered in 2016 to include a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) after-treatment system. It is the first production van to be tesand verified to Real Driving Emissions (RDE) standards due to be introduced in 2020.
The Daily Euro 6 RDE Ready has a standard Start/Stop system and is fitted with Michelin eco-tyres, which contribute to fuel savings of up to 7%.
The third model in the Blue line-up is the Daily Electric, the latest evolution of the model that was one of the pioneers of the electric LCV back in 2009.
