Hopes raised of VRT tax break

Community and voluntary groups will be hoping for a tax break on VRT rates on new vehicles, following the publication of ‘A Programme for a Partnership Government’, the programme for Government document agreed between Fine Gael, the Independent Alliance and Independent TDs.

The document, which was published on Wednesday includes a line, which recognises “the difficulties faced by community and voluntary groups in relation to VRT rates on vehicles.”

There is also a commitment to examine the issue, which has raised hopes amongst community and voluntary groups, that a tax break could be on the cards.
