Details of the Honda – Powering Local Dreams initiative, a competition designed to support the local Cork community by telling their stories and granting a €5,000 cash prize to the winning club, group or organisation has been announced.

Every community group, of any size based in Cork is welcome to enter. All entries will be reviewed and 3 finalists will be shortlisted by a judging panel with the overall winner, chosen by a public online vote.
The competition is free to enter, and the closing date for receipt of applications is Thursday September 14. The overall winner will be announced on Friday, October 20.
The launch was attended by Alison Canavan, Honda brand ambassador, international model, best-selling author and health and wellness coach, management of Universal Honda Ltd and representatives of local Honda dealerships in Cork: Kevin O’Leary Honda, Johnson and Perrott Honda and Hurley Bros.
Powering Local Dreams began in Galway in 2016 and was hugely successful with Ability West the overall winner. The €5,000 was used to purchase all-terrain beach wheelchairs, an invaluable help to the local community as they ensured that those with physical disabilities could fully enjoy all that the beach has to offer.
Powering Local Dreams moves to Cork this year, with the aim of raising awareness of the hard work and contribution made by local groups in Cork and ultimately adding some power to the winning group’s future development with a €5,000 cash prize.
Every group, club and organisation based in Cork that celebrates, includes, values, nurtures, shares and enhances their community is welcome to get involved.
Simply complete the online application form, detailing how you would use the prize money. The judging panel will then shortlist three finalists who each will each be profiled online with the opportunity to tell their unique story. Over two weeks the public will ultimately decide who the overall winner is by voting for their favourite finalist online. The group with the most public votes wins €5,000.
