Herbert Park Hotel goes electric

The Herbert Park Hotel has joined a network of accredited Green Hotels across Ireland with the installation of two electric vehicle charge points at the hotel, in association with ESB ecars.

The charge points were installed as part of a recent initiative which saw ESB facilitating the provision of electric cars to transport EU Commissioners and delegates visiting Ireland during the country’s EU presidency. Delegates were driven to and from Dublin Airport to the Herbert Park Hotel and other venues in Dublin in the zero emissions Nissan Leaf cars.

To date approximately 70 hotels nationwide have participated in the Green Hotel Drive; a partnership between ESB ecars, Fáilte Ireland and the Environmental Protection Agency.
This initiative forms part of the national EV charge point roll out by ESB as well as supporting the development of green tourism in Ireland. All participating hotels are listed on the ESB ecars charge point map where drivers can view the location of the nationwide network of over 1,300 public, commercial, domestic and fast charge points.

Green accredited hotels must be certified under one of the following schemes – Green Hospitality Award, EU Flower, Green Tourism Business Scheme, STEP or EcoTourism Ireland and be a Fáilte Ireland registered hotel.

The Nissan Leafs have been supplied by Windsor Motors in Deansgrange, Co Dublin. For more information on the Green Hotel Drive and to view the charge point map and other information, please visit our website on www.esb.ie/ecars.
