The tour has already visited locations such as the Mahon Point Shopping Centre in Cork and Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin, to name but a few. Still to come are visits to Limerick on the 13th July and Waterford on the 27th July as well as other key locations in Ireland during August. The DS Discovery events provide the public with the opportunity to experience the exclusive Citroën DS line for themselves and to test drive their preferred model.

Tom’s outstanding contribution to the old vehicle movement made him the unanimous choice of the Royal Irish Automobile Club Archive Committee, who annually award the trophy.

The trophy was awarded to Tom by Arthur Jolley, Chairman of the RIAC Archive Committee, at the ‘Picnic in the Park’ event in Marley Park, Dublin, organised jointly by the RIAC and the Irish Veteran & Vintage Car Club.

Arthur Jolley commented: “I’m delighted to see Tom’s excellent work on behalf of the old vehicle movement recognised by the presentation of this prestigious award”

On receiving the trophy, Tom Heavey said: “I am delighted to become the fourth recipient of the Reynolds Trophy, and I consider it an honour to receive an award from the RIAC Archive, who I hold in very high regard. It is awards like this that make worthwhile all the effort and time that my team and I put into our publications. I enjoy what I do, and hope to continue to promote the preservation of old vehicles for a long time to come.”

Past winners of the Reynolds Trophy have included the late Maurice Bryan, Tom Farrell and Harry Havelin.

Mr Jonnaert will replace Ivan Hodac (67) who after 12 years at the helm of ACEA will be taking his retirement.

A Belgian national, Mr Jonnaert (55) is a graduate of Harvard Law School who started his career with the Linklaters law firm. He subsequently joined Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he gained over 25 years of global experience in public affairs, regulatory affairs, communications and stakeholder relations. His last role was vice president for P&G’s external relations in Asia.

Jonnaert: “It is a great honour to have been given this opportunity to represent what is one of the strategically most important industries in Europe in these challenging times.”

ACEA President Sergio Marchionne, who is CEO of FIAT and Chrysler Group, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Mr Jonnaert to the industry and to ACEA. We are confident that he will build upon the exceptional work of Mr Hodac who has steered ACEA smoothly for many years, shaping it into one of Brussels’ most respected associations.”

This breakthrough in the friction material world was achieved in an intensive development period and tight cooperation with an unnamed German vehicle manufacturer. In a first step, the homologation is granted for the front axle of the new vehicle with its market launch in Autumn 2013.

Such a ground-breaking decision of a premium automotive producer underlines the compliance of the new copper-free friction pad with the most demanding requirements for brake pads. Other car manufacturers are currently testing TMD Friction’s copper-free material. Further homologations are expected in the coming months.
