The fastest selling used car during August in the UK was the Ford B-Max, with an average selling time of 25.5 days, according to date supplied by Glass’s.

This was followed in second place by Chevrolet’s Orlando (29.0 days) and third place was taken by the Ford Focus CC at 32.6 days. With six out of the ten quickest selling cars being family vehicles, the pattern has changed for the first time in several months.

Rupert Pontin, Chief Car Editors, comments: “Over the past six months we’ve seen 4x4s consistently take the most popular selling top spots – even at the beginning of summer when we expected the hot weather to boost sales of convertibles. This is probably the first month where the pattern is as we expected for the time of year, family cars are always going to be popular over the summer holiday period.

“That’s not to say convertibles have totally missed out, they do take three out of the top 10 places again reflecting the time of year and the excellent weather that continued right throughout the summer.

“The Nemo Multispace is proving to be a very popular choice – it’s been in or very close to the top 10 all year. What is most interesting is the fact that the Hyundai i30 is selling so well, and I think this reinforces the messages of value for money and high quality the brand has successfully pushed to the market.”
