Enterprise Rent-A-Car has raised €14,102 for its chosen charity partner this year, LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice. Enterprise Rent-A-Car Ireland Managing Director, George O’Connor, was on hand to deliver the cheque on the day in person.
Speaking on the importance of this year’s charity partnership, O’Connor said: “Enterprise Rent-A-Car is woven into the fabric of the many towns and neighbourhoods where we do business in Ireland. LauraLynn Children’s Hospice provides some vital support to those communities, so it’s an honour to support this important charity in any way that we can.”
LauraLynn Children’s Hospice was voted for by Enterprise employees to benefit from their philanthropic efforts in 2017/2018. Staff throughout the Enterprise Rent-A-Car network have taken part in a range of money-raising events including a triathlon, a hell and back challenge, a mountain climbing excursion, a cycle trek, table quizzes, and a golf outing.
Claire Shiels, Corporate Fundraising Executive at LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice, said: “We are thrilled with the generosity and commitment of Enterprise Rent-A-Car and their employees this year and it has been amazing working with such a great team. This substantial donation will make a huge difference and will be used to provide vital hospice care to children with life-limiting conditions as well as support to their whole families; from the time of diagnosis to end-of-life and into bereavement. It will mean that families are supported through the huge challenges they face, and that they get to spend precious quality time together.
Approximately 3,840 children are living with a life-limiting illness and some 350 die each year, most of them within their first year of life. Opened in 2011, LauraLynn Ireland’s Children’s Hospice aims to help these children and their families by making the most of their time together.
The charity provides palliative care and support for children with life-limiting conditions, with this support extended to children’s families. LauraLynn takes a holistic approach to care, which enables support of the entire family, allowing parents to be ‘mum and dad’, rather than full-time carers. All of LauraLynn’s services are provided free of charge to families and children can be referred from anywhere in Ireland.
The partnership between the charity and Enterprise-Rent-A-Car reflects the ethos of the car rental company, which aims to strengthen communities, one neighbourhood at a time.
