A darker oil usually indicates that the oil is dispersing particles and holding them in suspension, working the way it’s supposed to do.
Myth #5: Oils don’t wear out – they only get dirty
Contrary to some beliefs, oils will break down and will need to be replaced. The depletion of additives, build-up of contaminants and higher temperatures can cause oil to wear out. Some additives are specifically added to regulate this breakdown, allowing for greater drain intervals.
