Cylinder Heads by Blue Print

The Cylinder Head plays a vital role within the engine, containing more moving parts than any other part of the engine. All materials used to manufacture the Cylinder Head have to withstand huge pressure and extremely high temperatures while retaining shape and form to ensure a consistent seal to the block. This seal is key to controlling the air flow in and out of cylinders and fuel deployment.

The symptoms of a faulty Cylinder Head are varied, four main symptoms are;

  • Drop in coolant levels
  • Drop in oil levels
  • Drop in engine performance
  • Smoke coming out of the exhaust
Reasons for Cylinder Head failure

The most common reasons for a Cylinder Head to fail are;

  • Overheating from coolant loss.
  • Head gasket failure
  • Restricted flow of coolant
  • Dirt blocking or restricting ports

These can lead to the head warping or cracking. A defective cylinder head can have disastrous consequences causing terminal damage to the engine if not repaired or replaced in a timely manner.
